What is Chiropractic?Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline focused on providing whole body care of the neuromusculoskeletal system, particularly involving the spine. Chiropractors utilize non-invasive techniques to alleviate pain, restore movement and function, and promote overall health and wellness.
-
What is a chiropractic adjustment? The chiropractic adjustment is a specific manipulation delivered to the spine or the extremities to restore joint mobility and proper function. During an adjustment, the licensed chiropractor delivers a controlled force or thrust into joints that are not moving properly – this helps to increase range of motion, decrease pain, and promote proper function of the spine and nervous system. Utilizing the most up-to-date techniques, chiropractic adjustments are a safe and effective treatment for many neuromusculoskeletal conditions for all ages.
-
Is chiropractic care safe?Yes, chiropractic care is generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained chiropractor. Like any intervention, there may be some risks, but serious complications are rare. The chiropractor will perform a detailed examination to identify any underlying conditions which might increase the risk of complications and will discuss other options if chiropractic care is not right for you.
-
What should I expect during an initial visit?During your initial visit, the chiropractor will conduct a thorough examination which will include the following: a detailed history, past medical history, postural/range of motion assessment, and orthopedic and neurological tests (if necessary). After your exam, the chiropractor will go over exam findings and develop a personalized treatment plan to address your concerns and personal health goals.
-
Do I need X-rays?During your examination, the chiropractor will determine if any images are medically necessary before starting treatment. If X-rays are indicated, you will be referred for imaging prior to your first adjustment.
-
Will I receive an adjustment on my first visit? In most cases yes. After going over your exam findings and recommendations for care, you will start your care plan which may include electrical muscle stimulation (ESTIM), Ultrasound therapy (US), myofascial release technique/trigger point therapy and a chiropractic adjustment. However, if images (such as X-rays) are determined to be medically necessary during your examination you will not receive a chiropractic adjustment or any other care that might be contraindicated. All of this will be discussed with you during your initial visit.
-
How long does a chiropractic care plan last? The length of a care plan depends on various factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, other health considerations, and your response to care. The chiropractor will discuss a personalized care plan for you at your initial visit.

Do you accept insurance? At Functional Chiropractic, we have made the decision not to accept insurance for several reasons. By not participating in insurance networks, we can focus on providing high-quality, patient-centered care without the limitations imposed by insurance companies. While we do not accept insurance, we understand that affordability is a significant concern for our patients. Therefore, we offer transparent pricing and can provide necessary documentation for you to submit claims to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, if applicable. Our priority is to provide exceptional chiropractic care and support you in achieving your health goals.
